Hi I am have installed Windows 7 on a spare hard disc in my PC and am able to install software ok. However, I am unable to use the Steinberg Cubase 4.0 installation disks to install Cubase 4.0. The disks install fine in Vista, but when I attempt to install in Windows 7, I get the onscreen message 'this version of Cubase is for Windows XP or Higher'. It won't install in Windows 7. As an experiment I tried to install an earlier version of Cubase SX 3 which was written for XP, and that installs first time. However, that version is about 5 years old and I need to install the latest Cubase 4.0 version. I have tried to change the compatibility settings, but none of the alternatives work.

Any thoughts or suggestions about this. So far I've had no luck with SE3 (in Vista I had to resort to 'compatibilty' which worked'), or (and for me this is a biggy) the Roland VG99 usb driver, which installs via compatability but offers no ASIO driver, buffer size etc, just as a plain audio device.

Finally got SE3 to install after copying the CD to a folder and going back to the original dongle drivers. W7 moaned about 'This program may not have installed properly etc' but it seems OK. There is still no way I can get the VG99 USB driver working properly though. I have to write a line here. I'm a Cubase 5 owner! (Same to the Cubase 4 Version) This is NOT working rock solid!
