• 4 Answers SOURCE: This is a problem I have encountered my self with this card and a Audigy 2ZS card. First, make sure the correct CD is being used, the Audigy card was a refurb that replaced the original retail box card that went bad, I was using the retail CD. Second, I just had the same problem on my sons machine three days ago. I moved the card to a different slot to get it away from the video card. Thats when the problem started. I tried every trick and finally replaced the card with another I had in a different machine.

The card was the problem. Take the card out, inspect it very carefully and reinstall it. Other than that, try erasing the hard drive, not format. See if the maker has a program that will write zero's to it and then reinstall your operating system. If you use a backup after the install, I would put the card in it's original slot it has always occupied. I just uploaded a ISO file to a torrent which contains the original CD for a 'RETAIL' card, I say this because I don't know if it will work with an oem card. Google SB 0220 torrent to find it, SB_INSTALL.ISO is the one, uploaded.

Way back when I originally posted my link, I could not find the drivers anywhere. When I did run accross them, it took an hour to download, so I decided to provide it myself on a higher speed connection. If you say the problem now is not the drivers availability, but rather the software on the CD, I can try making an ISO out of the CD and posting that link instead. And I will make all my best efforts to keep the link active for as long as possible, and update it if needed. Looking at your system specs, I sure hope that you're NOT using Vista RC's as your primary operating system.:no: I haven't tried a mic with it.

I honestly can't even help you with that one since I don't have a standard analog mic to begin with. All I've got are USB headsets for mic. The best I can do is to tell you to make sure you get the PROPER Surround Mixer software installed (good luck finding that on Creative's website.) and to make sure that your MIC INPUT/OUTPUT are not muted by the system. I have also seen systems where you simply can't hear anything until you enable the MIC BOOST.
