ESL Anticheat is a state of the art client, which provides the world leading Anticheat software. With ESL Anticheat you get a tool which allows fair play in the leagues and cups of ESL Gaming. With ESL Anticheat comes Linesman.
When launching l2.exe a window with title Active Launcher opens and shows me me an error: 'Can't unload critical files, please, close all games! The game worked fine during open beta before the anticheat was added. I'm using the 1.5 client with 1.5 patch and have Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 libraries installed. Also, seeing how some people are also experiencing various problems with Active Anticheat software is there any chance you will start using some less agressive anticheat solution in the future?
We have integrated a very effective anti-cheat system called 'Easy Anti Cheat' (EAC) into Empyrion to avoid cheating on dedicated servers. EAC is not activated per default because we did not yet run extensive tests - we are planning to activate it by the end of the next week. However, if you want to help us testing it, you can activate EAC as follows: 1. On your server, open dedicated.yaml and set: EACActive: true -> now EAC is active on your server 2. Originally posted by EmpyrionGame:Remember: Starting the game normally from your Steam Client will not allow you to connect to an EAC protected server for now - you have to manually start 'EGS.exe'Won't that make plenty of topics appearing in General Discussions, Bug Reports, Multiplayer subforums about problems connecting servers (because people generally don't read stickies / don't search before posting), or will EAC be activated by default only after it's made possible to connect from a game launched from the Steam client? I've played a huge amount of 7 Days To Die and that uses EAC.
Unfortunately, it wasn't very effective at all. The vast majority of servers had to be password protected (or using a whitelist) because cheating was such a huge problem. This resulted in a lot of unhappy people, as they couldn't join servers unless they were actively moderated all the time, or were in a group running a server. I hope these issues won't arise in Empyrion, but I won't be holding my breath.
Fortunately for me, I didn't like Empyrion multiplayer, so I'll carry on in blissful SP ignorance! I tried it yesterday by enabling EAC on my dedicated server on the old savegame, which resetted everything and made me swawn on water because obviously alpha is incompatible to pre-alpha.
Raschyot deflektora cagi. Whatever, I started the game with EGS.exe which installed the AntiCheat on the first run, yet after around 30 seconds the server still kicked me with the reason of an inactive EAC. When playing around with it, I found out the splash screen with the little dialog box that is showing a label that the game is starting and a cancel button is being stuck while the game runs. And when I click on the task bar icon, it shows a message box that EAC couldn't be started.
Looking at the Windows services, I could see EAC was in started state. Windows 10 Pro, newest updates.
From what I know of it EAC doesn't really do much other than make cheat engines not recognize/access game code. I doubt it would be effective against more complex cheating methods/programs as it would have to prevent code injection altogether, which according tomy (minimal) research, it does not do. And if anecdotal evidence is any indicator, 7DTD servers do quite frequenly have a problem with cheaters, as has been said by an above poster.
Just to reiterate, EAC appears to be little more than a stopgap measure as far as cheat protection goes. Hi quicksilver, do you mind stop trolling? I got several complaints about your behavior - even from some of the most vocal users around here. So we KNOW you do not agree on how the game is done and you showed more then once that you are of the opinion that you know better how to do it.
So if you want to go on like this, please do so. I won't ban or delete your comments (like some suggested), but i'll just ignore them as they add nothing to an ongoing feedback process of an in-development game. Your anger may be better spent on ay other Retail game that got sold 'finished' but is not. Thanks for listening;-). Well, I don't like pvp anyway, because there are people who learn all the exploits, then just become obscenely good at it, and then the only way you can play pvp is to use all the exploits that everyone else is using, and then the devs nerf everything and the game becomes pointless rubbish. This is why I never like pvp. I do, however, like co-op.
